About
Here’s my twitter bio: Mac’d out geek girl; love my husband, my dogs, design, photography, gardening, red wine, eating fresh and local. I do creative stuff @ Van Belle Nursery.
And here’s the longer version: I share my home with one husband, one in-law (my mom) and three great dogs. I love photography, cooking, writing, reading, gardening and learning about anything and everything. I live in the beautiful Fraser Valley in BC where fresh produce abounds and the 100 Mile Diet can actually be a reality, without much trouble. I’m a lazy proponent of this, preferring to just do what I can, when I can, to support local farmers and businesses. I work locally so it makes a difference to me.
I love my dogs, and don’t like mushrooms. I watch too much reality TV and don’t have enough self-discipline to sit down and read all the books I either buy or take out of the library. I need to work on this. The mushrooms – it’ll never happen. I’ve tried them and found them undesirable in every way.
Never say never. I eat broccoli now. AND brussels sprouts. I’m very hesitant about sushi, but life is too short to stay closed to new experiences.
I’m a Mac. And I’m a PC. I can mouse with my left and my right hands. I’m teaching myself how to be a graphic artist, and it seems to be working. If that doesn’t work out, I’m still a kick-a** admin assistant. I take chaos and create calm serenity. In the words of my employer, I’m unflappable. I don’t think he’s noticed the very infrequent trips to the ladies room at work for a small cry when I get overwhelmed. If he ever reads this page, it’s not his fault. It’s a girl thing.
I waste time playing games, of the video kind. We have a PS3 that I use to claim Peggle supremacy (among other titles) as well as a Wii, which is helping me get in shape. If hubby is using the Playstation I might hook up with some Sims 3 on my Mac.
My husband and I are best friends, and huge geeks. He’s more of an audiophile geek and I’m just into anything computery. I like high-gloss on a screen, not a lipstick. I love Apple products because they are beautiful and they work. However, I have a soft spot for Microsoft because I worked for them way back when, and I still use a PC at work so I find myself firmly planted in two worlds. This makes remembering all my keyboard shortcuts challenging, but I’m getting there.
This blog? Pretty much anything and everything. It’s not my first foray into this world, but I took a long break to regather my voice. In the meantime, twitter and Facebook have edged in and gotten me all hooked on social media, those little rascals. So now the blog is an extension of social media, a place to take it beyond status updates and tweets. You can expect to find any of the following here: photography, cooking, wine, dogs, diet, music, exercise, graphic design, religion (a little) and politics (even less). Enjoy!
